Fine piece of furniture, November 19, 2010 By KB (Rome, Italy) - See all my reviews I wanted something to allow me to read for long periods of time without getting tendonitis in my hands and arms. I originally saw something like this in those airline catalogs. Then I realized I didn't need to buy theirs. I searched the internet and found this one. It looked nicer and cost a lot less. Of course I expect the worst when I buy something from an internet picture, but this turned out to be quite a nice piece of furniture. The packaging was a good sign that they care about their products; it was packaged like expensive medical equipment. Everything was well labeled and the instructions were clear. It assembled very easily for something with so many moving parts. It is extremely strong. You could put a TV on it instead of a book or laptop. It doesn't wobble. It looks beautiful as well. It has an amazing number of adjustments; I count six; it is very flexible. It even has separate brakes on each of the three wheels. Mine came with one scrape in the veneer along... Read more

Sturdy, decent materials, May 31, 2011 By David Rome "Dawg Dave" (Bangor, ME) - See all my reviews This review is from: Laptop Caddy - Frontgate (Kitchen) most of the reviews of these types of furniture complain about sturdiness (wobbly, rickety, etc). This one is very well made. I purchased in Houston during residency and have used it since. The top is a little beat up by condensation from iced drinks and from several moving companies over the years. Otherwise, it is just as functional as ever. For those worried about the durability of the veneer--add a coat of polyurethane to provide additional protection. Any piece of wood is susceptible to water stains and dings. I may sand my damaged top and just paint it. I will definitely add a coat of satin polyurethane to the veneer top when I purchase another. Not a big deal to spray and let dry before assembly. Most importantly, the base frame is solid, especially compared to anything I have seen in stores or online. BTW, I paid $150 originally in 2006. Now available at Frontgate for $99.50. Looks identical...come to think of it, maybe I shouldn't wait to buy a second one for... Read more

Mis-represented, January 16, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase I bought this item based on the picture and description. This leads you to believe that you are getting the same unit sold by Frontgate directly. There are caddies sold that look almost exactly like this one except the tilting mechanism is very simple. Just a tube that attaches directly to the top, which slides over a rod with the tilt controlled by tightening a knurled knob. If you look closely at the picture that accompanies this unit and the one on the Frontgate site you will see what looks to be a more involved tilting mechanism. I bought this unit as it has this description:
1)Upgraded tilt mechanism on computer cart eliminates overtilting - No upgraded tilt mechanism on mine. A very simply mechanism that will probably require constant tightening until it doesn't hold anymore.
2)New integrated spring assist for the up/down movement - No spring assist at all. You raise either side yourself and it's held in place by tightening a knurled knob. I can see this... Read more
